About the Area
Istanbul Airport sits on the European side of the city, in the Arnavutköy district near the Black Sea coast. It is about 40 km from Taksim and 50 km from Sultanahmet. The main roads into the city are the Northern Marmara Motorway and the TEM, and your driver picks the best one for the traffic of the day.
Districts on the European side such as Beşiktaş, Şişli and Bakırköy are usually 40 to 50 minutes away. Addresses on the Asian side, such as Kadıköy and Ataşehir, require a bridge crossing, so the ride can take a little over an hour depending on traffic.
